Jose Luis Pelaez is the owner and primary photographer for JLP Studios. A graduate of Cooper Union in New York City, Jose has been a commercial photographer for more than 25 years.
Following graduation from Cooper Union, Jose worked as an editorial and advertising photographer. After experimenting with the creative diversity and freedom associated with stock photography, Jose established a stock-only studio in 1990 in New York City. His innovative techniques and insights into stock production quickly established Jose as a leading photographer in the stock industry.
In 2001, Jose relocated to an industrial building in West New York, NJ, which was gutted and repurposed as a state-of-the-art stock production facility. JLP Studios, with 10,000 sq.ft. of shooting space, is now one of the largest commercial studios.
In 2004, Jose became a founding owner of Blend Images (www.BlendImages.com). Currently the most successful of the new image distributors, Blend has established itself as the world leader in stock photography specializing in ethnically diversified images. With over 25,000 images on file, Jose is one of Blend’s leading photographers.
Jose has frequently been profiled in the industry trade press, asked to participate as a speaker or panelist at industry trade shows and seminars, and is highly respected within the industry as one of the world’s leading stock photographers.
